Waiting and Dwelling
Have you ever waited for a loved one to visit from far away? Maybe you sit near a window or hover over the phone with expectancy as the time of their arrival draws near. Imagine being a tax collector who is too short to see over the crowds, so you climb into a tree to see the Teacher who is passing by. Then He looks up at you and says, “Come down, for I must stay at your house today” (John 19:5)! How do you handle your anticipation of spending time with someone who is so loved or so great? As you look forward to the promised return of the Savior, remember that God has sent His Holy Spirit to dwell in you (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 3:16). Be aware of and cherish the Lord’s presence with you today, and prayerfully anticipate all that He is doing as you await Christ’s Second Coming.
